Race for the Cure

I am so not a runner, but a year ago my dear friend Heidi was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was 6 weeks or so pregnant with her fourth child at the time. She went through several months of low dose chemotherapy, delivered a healthy baby boy, and is back to chemo treatments through the rest of this year. She has been such an inspiration to me. I wish I could exemplify her strength and faith during such a challenge. I decided in the fall that I would "attempt" to train for the Race for the Cure 5K in her honor. I told my good friend Ann about my goal and she (being a runner) told me she would help me. So on Saturday, at 8:30 am I ran (the whole way!) my first (and possible last) 5K in approx. 33 minutes. It felt so good crossing the finish line!

That is so awesome. What a cool thing for you to do and for your kids to see your example.

I'm really proud of you. 33 minutes is a great time. I wish my knees would have let me run it with you. Maybe next year. Good job!

Nancy, this is Jessica from the old Hayden Run ward. I found your blog through Margo. Just wanted to say HI!! Also, I think that the race for a cure you finished is so great! I hope that your friend gets better quickly so she can raise her family healthy. Take care:-)
